Transform I, Dubkasm’s debut album, was a project that was realised between Bristol and Brazil by DJ Stryda and Digistep respectively. The music speaks for itself, described by Steve Barker in Wire magazine as “modern roots reggae at its finest... irresistIble. Like many innovations heard for the first time, you wonder why this had not been done before.”

Producer Digistep draws from his Brazilian roots and infuses the music with undercurrents of samba and Afro-Brazilian spirit, while DJ Stryda back in the UK recorded the finest vocal artists in the UK scene. The interweaving of berimbau, cuica, cavaquinho and zabumba into both digital and classic roots vibes produces sounds a sound never achieved before on what is probably the first album ever to sonically blend these two cultures.
